Protecting the Environment from Concrete Slurry

Managing Concrete Dust

Concrete cutting produces concrete dust. This airborne dust is harmful to health and can cause silicosis. For this reason, wet cutting techniques are used to suppress the dust. This creates a new problem, concrete slurry, which needs to be professionally contained for environmental reasons.

Many people overlook the challenge of capturing slurry, even for DIY jobs. For larger jobs it requires special systems to be put in place to capture the slurry no mater if they concrete is being cut using a concrete saw, concrete core drill or concrete grinder.

What is used to capture concrete slurry?

A combination of factors go towards capturing and disposing of concrete slurry. Mastercut concrete undertake the following provisions:

  • Wet Vac is used to extract the slurry from the cutting surface.
  • An Enviro Slurry Control Cart is situated near the cutting site.
  • Concrete slurry is captured in 400 litre drums
  • Each drum is taken to a Cleanaway for proper disposal
